We have a problem.

After three books watching Evie Sage work for the Villain, fall for the Villain, try not to fall for the Villain and develop a worrying talent for making questionable decisions, it turns out that now she is the adversary.

And frankly, we love it.

Adversary to the Villain, the fourth book in Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s Assistant to the Villain series, has already been published in English and has a confirmed release date in Spain.

But there is another important question: is Adversary to the Villain the final book in the series?

Short answer: NO.

So we can put away the torches and pitchforks. For now...

When is Adversary to the Villain released in Spain?

The Spanish edition, Adversaria del Villano, will be published in Spain on 15 October 2026 by Faeris Editorial.

The publisher responsible for Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s series in Spanish will therefore bring readers the fourth instalment after Assistant to the Villain, Apprentice to the Villain and Accomplice to the Villain.

And there is good news for anyone already counting down the days like us: Adversaria del Villano can already be pre-ordered in Spain, so at least one VERY important part of the problem is solved.

The other part—surviving until October without opening a single spoiler—is up to us.

The English edition, Adversary to the Villain, was published on 4 August 2026, which means that somewhere on this planet there are already people who know things we do not.

What is Adversary to the Villain about?

At this point, calling Evie Sage simply “the Villain’s assistant” is starting to feel rather inadequate. Very inadequate.

After everything that happened in the first three books, Evie has gone from trying to survive a suspiciously corpse-filled job to becoming a key part of Rennedawn—and, above all, of Trystan Maverine’s life.

Our beloved Villain.

The man who could apparently handle beheadings before breakfast but had considerably more trouble dealing with the fact that he liked his assistant.

And after Accomplice to the Villain, things are definitely not where they were at the beginning.

Evie has changed.

Trystan has changed.

And the relationship between them has DEFINITELY changed.

Adversary to the Villain continues the story with Rennedawn in danger, a prophecy threatening to complicate absolutely everything and Evie moving ever closer to the side of herself that may always have been a little villainous.

And we have just one request: Hannah, please. Let them kiss in peace for five minutes. Five!

Yes, we want to know what happens to Rennedawn.

Yes, we want to know what happens with that blessed prophecy.

Yes, Benedict deserves every ounce of our suspicion.

But we have also spent THREE BOOKS watching Evie and Trystan circle around the obvious.

The relationship between Evie and Trystan is one of the great driving forces of Assistant to the Villain, and its evolution is precisely one of the reasons the series has us completely hooked.

What began with Evie accepting a job with the most feared man in the kingdom has turned into a relationship in which the line between assistant, accomplice, ally and something MUCH more dangerous has become increasingly thin.

And the title of book four hardly seems accidental.

First she was the assistant.

Then the apprentice.

Then the accomplice.

And now…

Adversary to the Villain.

Is Adversary to the Villain the final book?

No. Adversary to the Villain is not the final Assistant to the Villain book.

And that may be some of the best news in this entire article.

Adversary to the Villain is the fourth book in the series, but Evie and Trystan’s story does not end here.

The series is planned to continue with a fifth book, which will bring the main story to a close.

So after Adversary to the Villain, we still have one final trip to Rennedawn ahead of us.

And considering the level of chaos we have reached...

We are slightly terrified.

How many Assistant to the Villain books will there be?

The main Assistant to the Villain series will have five books.

The reading order is therefore:

• Assistant to the Villain
• Apprentice to the Villain
• Accomplice to the Villain
• Adversary to the Villain
• Fifth Assistant to the Villain book

For now, we will have to wait for all the details about that fifth and final instalment.

But there is something rather entertaining about looking at the progression of the titles.

Assistant → Apprentice → Accomplice → Adversary.

Evie started out looking for a job.

Evie will probably end up conquering a kingdom.

Impeccable career development.

This time we went in a completely different direction: a blue-purple base with turquoise marbling and a much simpler decoration of leaves and flowers.

We could not talk about Assistant to the Villain without mentioning Reymundo.

Our very own magical frog has ended up becoming a candle inside a ceramic mug, accompanied by a lily pad that can be used as a base.

And its fragrance is probably one of the most magical we have created: coconut water, vanilla, green tea and jasmine.

It smells of enchanted forests, fairy tales and the sort of place where you would probably accept a side quest without reading the terms first.
